May 19, 2011 journal, people power is an inspirational term but it is hard to achieve with all the media bias in support of the Red Star / Red shield banking industry of Wall Street and the foreign phony Federal Reserve in international banking conspiracy of Rothschild. "The Constellation of Liberty" was inspired by a single paragraph of political rhetoric uttered aloud during the 2008 election cycle. That political rhetoric had strong "people power" overtones. The 2008 elections are over. And the implied promise of "people power" I heard in that paragraph has yet to be fully realized. But "people power" is not limited to the 2008 election cycle. Nor is it limited to the 2010/2012 cycle. "People power" is always relevant. Nor is "people power" limited to the sphere of politics- national, state or local. "People power" is not only public (political), it is also private (personal). And that is one aspect of "The Constellation of Liberty" that makes it unique and a worthwhile read - it addresses "people power" in both spheres. Liberty is a set of conditions that allows each person to exercise their own individual "people power" to pursue happiness - to realize a full measure of the promise that their life represents. (people had power to reject Bush and vote in another president but he is another bush) "The Constellation of Liberty" shows how the Constitution defines liberty and how that definition resembles commonly held ideas about liberty. It presents and explains the language in the constitution that defines liberty. Under the terms of the Constitution (as understood by this author), the mission of the federal government is stated in the preamble. Except for what is necessary to accomplish that mission, the federal government should not interfere with individual activities. I believe in individual pursuit of happiness is enhanced when the constitution is observed. I also believe that failure to observe the constitution often impedes pursuit of happiness - both for the person who fails to observe it and also for adversely-affected bystanders. The book contains examples which compare and contrast the results of observing and not observing the constitution. To advance the discussion, the constitution is related to the Declaration of Independence and 2 significant events following the Revolutionary War. Without "divining" the minds of the framers, this helps the reader toward a basic understanding of original intent. After original intent is described, it is translated into terms that relate to today. It wasn't hard to do. At the end of the essay, a list of action items is provided for the reader to pursue. The discussion is illuminated by two simple, unique definitions - one for freedom and the other for liberty. These unique definitions help lead away from a "sense of entitlement" that often seems to result from discussions revolving around individual rights." cont.
